Central Machine Hire is an innovative and diverse civil contracting company ranging in: heavy transport, earthmoving using GPS technology, quarrying operations, rural works, subdivision development, craneage and hiab works and plant hire.

Operations are based in Wanaka with contract works throughout Otago & Southland including Three Parks, Alpha Ridge, Alpine Meadows, West Meadows, Koreke Rise subdivisions and various rural contracts. 

 

If you live in Alexandra or Cromwell, transport is available in our daily shuttle bus.

The following positions are available:

1. Foreman / Leading Hand – roading / subdivision / construction

2. Hydro Excavator Operator – full training can be provided – Class 4 licence required

3. Grader Driver – new 140 Cat with full machine control, must have final trim experience.

4. Multi-Skilled All-Round Operators – truck and trailer, excavators, loaders with class 4,5 and WTR licences.

5. Excavator Operators – must be skilled and can use GPS. 

6. Registered/Ticketed Drainlayer

7. Skilled Civil Construction Labourers

8. Heavy Diesel Service Mechanic

- Wanaka workshop based, reporting to our workshop manager. 

- Applicant must be qualified, skilled and experienced. 

- You will be servicing our extensive plant fleet, ranging in: earthmoving equipment, trucks, quarrying plant, small plant.

9. Sandblasting / Paint Shop Assistant

- Wanaka workshop based - reporting to our workshop manager. 
- Applicant must be fit and able to perform physical tasks. 
- No experience necessary. 
- Must have a current drivers licence. 
- You will be servicing our extensive plant fleet, ranging in: earthmoving equipment, trucks, quarrying plant, small plant.

10. Quantity Surveyor / Graduate Engineer

- Work alongside Project Managers, as an integral part of the management team.
- Applicant must have relevant diploma/degree

- Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively with team members and trade partners is a must.

- Main duties will include:

- Tendering new work
- Measuring, estimating and valuing and assisting with progress claims and variations
- Cost tracking / cost control
- Working closely with the Project team on challenges and opportunities
- Survey pick up and set out.
